Health Facilities Scotland
We provide NHSScotland with effective technical guidance, support and advice on healthcare estates and facilities. We help NHS Boards with their capital developments.
We play an important role in supporting NHSScotland to tackle Healthcare Associated Infections, by ensuring compliance with national cleaning standards and developing and implementing appropriate decontamination standards and procedures.
Our operational guidance covers a huge range of topics including architecture, building, construction procurement, fire safety, estates engineering, planning, energy, environment, decontamination, catering and domestic services.
We aim to establish professional and technical standards and best practice procedures within NHSScotland, including promoting new initiatives in the field of healthcare facilities practice and management. We deliver an extensive training and events programme in relation to each of the above subjects. We are also responsible for the national Hazards and Safety Action Notice service for NHSScotland, providing Oxygen Therapy Services across Scotland and Quality Assurance of the National Breast Screening equipment.
