The National Procurement programme management office has fought off stiff opposition to pick up the 2009 Government Opportunities Team Excellence Award.
The team's work includes delivering the procurement reform programme across NHS Scotland and this award recognises the roll-out of the NHS Procurement Capability Assessment tool across the whole of the public sector. This initiative will help improve procurement performance, and with £8bn spent by public bodies in Scotland this is a key priority.
The judges said: "National Procurement achieved considerable success in unifying a disparate range of organisations behind a common purpose - and their effort and commitment have led to significant increases in performance."
National Procurement Director Colin Sinclair said: "It's terrific for the team that their hard work over the last year has paid off with this public recognition. Everyone involved has demonstrated real professionalism to get the job done and the positive impact will be felt across the Scottish Public Sector procurement landscape for years to come."
Government Opportunities is leading procurement magazine. The awards, held at the SECC on 28 October, are open to teams working within a procurement function in the public or third sector in Scotland.
