Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service

Every minute of every day someone in Scotland needs blood as part of a life saving or life enhancing treatment.

National Procurement

We work night and day to deliver the supplies that hospitals need to keep functioning...we use NHSScotland’s combined buying power to get better deals on goods that we then deliver, saving millions each year.

Health Protection Scotland

Co-ordinating life saving vaccination campaign to protect people's health...we monitor for infectious diseases and environmental outbreaks...we are also the national expert advisor on healthcare associated infection.

Health Facilities Scotland

Working closely with patient and clinicians, we provide a life-enhancing home oxygen service...we play a key role in driving down healthcare associated infections by overseeing compliance with cleaning standards...we provide advice on new building standards, in areas like sustainability.

National Services Division

Co-ordinating screening programmes so that serious conditions can be spotted quickly...we co-ordinate specialist services like spinal injury rehabilitation.

Counter Fraud Services
We raise awareness nationwide about the impact of fraud...and pursue instances of fraud when it does occur.

Central Legal Office
We give health boards support with clinical negligence, personal injury claims, employment law, commercial controls and property law.

National Information Systems Group
Linking up information so that NHS staff can do their jobs and patient details are held securely...the Emergency Care Summary we developed allows clinicians to access critical patient information quickly.

Practitioner Services
We pay family doctors, pharmacists, ophthalmologists and dentists...we also work closely with dental practices to assure quality of treatment and value for money.

Supporting networking and learning through conferences workshops and our library.

Information Services Division
We produce statistical information and analysis on everything from waiting times to quality initiatives...our information helps NHSScotland make the right decisions for patients.
